Textbook example of New Zealand Pinot Noir by ‘Digger’ Hennessey & Corey Hall, chief winemakers at the prestigious Mount Riley & Matua wineries.
6 out 7 rating in Michael Cooper ‘Buyers Guide to New Zealand Wines’ “Grown at several sites, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 10 months. It’s a full-bodied wine, with generous cherry, herb and spice flavours, showing considerable complexity.”
A high quality new style Barolo at a bargain price given Singapore’s typically over inflated prices for Barolo.
Glides through the palate beautifully from a soft entry through to full, mouthwatering fruit & acidity with firm but soft tannins. Structure & power with a feminine touch.
This is a really great Barolo!
“Elegant, this red is full of spice, currant, balsamic & soy aromas & flavors. The texture is supple & the structure well-integrated, offering firm support & a lingering, energetic finish of mineral & spice. Only 500 cases made.” – 94 points – James Suckling – Wine Spectator
As befits a single vineyard Gevrey Chambertin, this is a structured wine, firmly rooted in tannins. Hidden beneath are black plum and cherry flavors that are raring to go—rich and sumptuous. It’s a wine for aging, so drink from 2019.
From the epic 2012 vintage, this kind of value out of Coonawarra doesn’t get much better than this!
The Redman family are one of the pioneering wine producers in the historic & acclaimed Coonawarra region.
Coonawarra is best known for the intensely flavoured wines from the ‘Terra Rossa’ red soil strip that symbolises Coonawarra’s uniqueness.
Redman Shiraz is made from carefully hand pruned grapes grown on vines that are over forty years old in the heart of Coonawarra
TAHBILK – “Winery of the Year” – James Halliday ‘Australian Wine Companion 2016
93pts – James Halliday
90pts – Jeremy Oliver
“Medium red-purple; the moderately intense bouquet is smooth, with pleasingly sweet cherry/raspberry varietal fruit, the oak subdued. The palate, while driven by fruit, is very much the iron fist in velvet glove style, the tannin & extract management excellent. ” – James Halliday
Tahbilk’s ‘1860 Vines’ Shiraz is produced from a 1/2 hectare un-grafted, pre-phylloxera original Estate planting – amongst the oldest Shiraz vines in the world.
After careful handpicking, fermentation takes place in century old oak vats followed by maturation in French oak for 18 months prior to bottling & then a further 4 years “bottle-aging” before release.
The delivery service, the wine selection, the after service all excellent. Contact with staff always friendly and very helpful. Great service.
