“This Shadrach is a blend of high Eden Valley & Barossa cabernet sauvignon… the quality of this surprised me. I’ve viewed Shadrach cabernet as generally excellent, but rarely outstanding. This to my taste is an outstanding Barossan cabernet. It’s a hulky, bulky, robust cabernet, chocked with blackcurrant & chocolate & heaps of juicy, grainy, assertive tannin. It has length & weight, impact & freshness. It’s a very tannic wine – but it’s also a balanced wine.” -The Wine Front
“A brooding wine, full of rich, ripe & essency cassis fruit; fully proportioned on the palate, similar essency fruit carries right through to the dark, & quite tannic, finish.” – James Halliday
2006 Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep garnet-purple color & evolving dried plum, earth, cloves & coffee notes with a faint scent of cigar boxes & a whiff of dried oregano. This is a more structured style with a high level of slightly astringent tannins & crisp acidity slightly dominating the berry & spice flavors. The finish is long a chewy. Drinking now it should keep to 2018+. – Robert Parker “The Wine Advocate”
