Description
Hutton Vale adjoins Henschke’s ‘Mt. Edelstone’ vineyard & is only 1500 metres from Henschke’s revered “Hill of Grace” vineyard that produces Australia’s second most expensive red wine @ $700/bottle.
Total production is just a hat full – Benchmark’s allocation of tthis Shiraz is just 48 bottles!
“Part of the vineyard was planted in the ’60s with cuttings from Henschke’s Mount Edelstone Vineyard, the remainder planted in the ’90s, destemmed, 6 days on skins, matured for 2 years in French puncheons (5% new). A very, very distinguished Eden Valley shiraz; the intense black fruits/licorice/spice fruit has absorbed the French oak & largely dismissed the tannins, the latter providing a distant drum beat on the exceptionally long finish & aftertaste.” – James Halliday
