The Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood is a seminal Speyside single malt that gained fame for pioneering the "wood finishing" process. It spends at least twelve years maturing in traditional American oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads, which impart foundational notes of soft vanilla and honey. The whisky is then "finished" by being transferred to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months, adding layers of rich dried fruit, spice, and depth.
